Custom Quilting Fabric: Unique Prints for DIY Use

Spoonflower prints on demand which means we do not stock finished goods. We only print after an item has been purchased, helping to reduce deadstock and unsold goods that would otherwise end up in landfills. Every item you receive is carefully printed, cut, packaged in the USA and shipped just for you.

Each design sold by Spoonflower is created by an independent artist who receives a royalty with every purchase.

All fabrics are offered in yards, fat quarters and 8”x8” swatches.  

We carry a variety of fabrics in different widths – including extra wide! If you want a seamless backing without having to piece together, our Wide Cotton Sateen 3.5 oz fabric would be the best fit at 116" wide. Our snuggly options are Polartec®️ Fleece (56" wide) or Minky (54" wide) for extra warmth. Choose from Spoonflower's Petal Signature Cotton®️ (42" wide) or Cotton Poplin (42” wide) for a more traditional choice that can be pieced to meet any backing needs. Organic Cotton Sateen is another great option at 56” wide.

All Spoonflower fabrics can be machine washed and tumbled tried on a low setting. We suggest washing with like colors on a cool cycle. Natural fiber fabrics can be pressed using a warm iron, while polyester fabrics can be pressed using a cool iron. We recommend using a pressing cloth for all fabric types. 

Natural fabrics may feel slightly stiff when you first receive them but soften considerably with washing. Because Spoonflower fabrics are digitally printed, and ink is deposited on the surface of the fabric, full-coverage and more saturated designs may feel stiffer initially than others due to the amount of ink required. Our process for printing synthetic fiber fabrics does not result in the same initial stiffness, so the material will feel softer out of the package.  

 We always recommend washing your fabrics before use.

You always have the option to design and print your own quilt labels or write label information on a piece of fabric to sew on your quilt. There are also hundreds of quilt label designs available for purchase and ready for you to use.
