Pattern Drenching and Pattern Pairing Pro Tips

Wrap Your Room in Pattern; Trust the Formula
Finding, mixing, and drenching with patterns should be fun, not intimidating. A medium or large scale pattern works well for full room drenching, while small scale prints can make a room feel busy or crowded. Wallpaper the walls, the ceiling, or use the same pattern on textiles or large pieces of furniture. Use solids to visually rest the eye, like Christina did with the creamy white vanity, the floor tile, and fixtures in her bathroom, and the matching green color on the ceiling to match the charming frog toile on the walls and shower curtain. In her daughter’s bedroom, Christina picked a large scale floral “hero” design, and complimented it with the small scale wallpaper. The other coordinating fabrics harmonize because they match the formula: the lining of the canopy acts as a “stripe” with a vertical repeat, the pillows offer a small scale geometric accent, and the green sheets match the solid green furniture.
